• http://therealbetsy.tumblr.com - Betsy was a pen pal of mine whom I met in March of 1996 while in Washington, D.C. as part of Close-Up. If you know nothing about Close-Up Foundation, then I suggest you look it up. It's an organization which brings high school students from all over to get up and close with the ongoings of our Federal Government. Betsy was in my group though she is from Decatur, AL and I'm from Eastern Ohio. There were several other states represented at the hotel, but I am not sure if there were Arizona, Colorado and Kansas, but I vaguely think they were there. For whatever reason, I was being stalked by a girl from my school who would not leave my room's door one day. Betsy called my room and gave me cover to get away from my stalker. Being from a small town with people of small town expectations, I wrote a few people like Betsy afterward. I wrote her roommate Rachel Hammers as well, but we never got a correspondence going. I was a dull boy from a dull town, so I can only conclude that I bored her, while Betsy was a deeper thinking sort who reflected upon her thoughts. I wish I could have faith like Betsy.
